How To Grow Traffic To Your Blog
Most bloggers fail at promoting their blog, and there are a lot of wonderful writers and content producers out there but most people have never heard of them. The problem is these bloggers don’t know how to promote their work.
It’s crucial that you promote your blog so you want to tell people that you have a blog and want to ask them to come and visit your site.
Now, I know that bloggers are in a way like artists – they feel like their blog isn’t worth promoting or that they need to add more content or change the design before they start promoting.
It’s the perfectionist/artist mentality vs entrepreneur mentality.
I believe it was Tony Robbins who said that the artist type tends to keep their product secret because it’s never “finished” or perfect, and the entrepreneur knows that getting the product into the marketplace is the only way to make it a success, so they’re willing to launch with an imperfect product first, and continue improving it going forward.
What does this mean for you?
Truth is that if you’ve put the time into setting up the site, and you have great content you should be proud of your work and you want to promote it.
If you don’t have your blog setup yet go to Step 2 of this tutorial to find out how.
So how do you market your new blog?
Truth is; many of the best ways to promote your blog are free. I’ve made up a list of the best free ways to promote your site and bring in traffic.
Social network platforms are the best place to market your blog. And best of all you probably already have a Facebook account and maybe even a Twitter account. So you need to promote your new content via your social media accounts by offering comments about your writing with a link back to your blog.
You’ll want to make more friends that are interested in your topic, and you can even send friend requests to the top bloggers in your niche and make sure you follow them on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
Another great way to get people to follow your blog is to make comments on other people’s blogs, just don’t abuse the benefit and you should be fine. If you make a useful comment and leave a link to your blog, you put your blog in front of people who are interested in your topic and you get more visitors to your site.
Link to other Blogs
One of the best things you can do is get ideas from other blogs or to write a response to posts from another blog. This can be a disagreement, an expansion or something you want to say about it.
When you link from another website to your blog you create a trackback. This means that anyone reading can go to your blog from that website.
Another way to get people to come to your blog is to write for someone else. You can write guests posts for another blog and add a link to your own blog and say something like:
Find out more about this topic here (link to your site)
To write a guest post just contact the blog owner and offer to write for their site. Note that not every blogger is open to the idea, but you can find a few who will gladly let you offer them quality content in exchange to a link to your site.
Participate in Forums
Join popular forums in your niche. If your blog is about pets, join dog forums. If about aging, join weight loss or anti-aging forums. Forums allow you to post a link to your site in the signature box. Just make sure you write helpful posts. People won’t want to come to your blog if you don’t help them on the forums.
Post New Content Frequently
The above tips focus on getting you more readers, and of course, this is the most difficult step in the marketing process. However, once you get new readers you have to make sure they come back – and to do that you have to post good content frequently. You should make your posts at least once a week but preferable every one to two days. This is the key factor in building up your following.
Content can be great but if you only post once in a while you’ll lose your readers, so you need a balance between high quality content and frequent posting.
