Warning: I’m receiving an overwhelming amount of bad reviews for Aabaco, and it’s clear this company has dropped the ball and doesn’t give a shit about it. Excuse my language… You’d think they could do better than this.. I mean, it’s Yahoo, right? Apparently they just don’t care. Yahoo! needs no introduction. It was once the king of search engines – and the Internet in general – until Google came to challenge the throne. Anyway, I’m not going to dig through its past majesty because right now, you’re obviously in need of a reliable web host!

But what’s an online directory/search engine got to do with my search for a web host?” Well, if there’s one web service Google haven’t focused much on, it’s got to be web hosting. Yahoo! knew the importance of hosting to those who want to make their presence known online. A website needs a good web host for it to be fully functional. What’s more, it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. With the aim to provide reliable web hosting services at an affordable price, Yahoo! introduced Yahoo! Small Business.

Transition Into Becoming a “Better” Web Hosting Provider

As the name implies, Yahoo! Small Business’ web hosting services are aimed towards small business owners who want to make their own mark online. But unlike other web hosts that offer a range of hosting packages, they offer a one-size-fits-all solution that includes some really useful features that make it particularly appealing to newbies. But the thing is, it’s quite – and for the lack of a better word – “generic”.

There’s nothing about Yahoo! Small Business’ features that truly stand out to make me consider it a “one-of-a-kind web host”. And as years passed by, more and more clients are complaining about poor customer service. So before everything turns from bad to worse, Yahoo! made a surprising move by transitioning their web hosting service to one that’s (hopefully) much better, in the form of Aabaco Small Business.

New name, new company. That’s right, Yahoo! Small Business has now been officially rebranded as Aabaco Small Business. Soon, they will become a part of Aabaco Holdings, Inc. once it’s spun off from Yahoo!. A few months ago, the company was under the domain name “Luminate”, but they thought it’s an even better idea to have a name that’s more aligned with their soon-to-be parent company, which is Aabaco Holdings. There was a little bit of confusion back then but now, they’ve finally settled with Aabaco Small Business.

  • Access to a wide selection of beautifully crafted design templates or customize your own online store with the built-in editor and wizard.
  • Ability to use third-party software for building an online store, including Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe GoLive, or any HTML editing tools.
  • Find an expert in Aabaco Small Business’ developer network to assist you in creating a fully customized eCommerce site that includes all the necessary features and functions for your business.
  • Create SEO-friendly web pages using wizards and optimize content to improve your site’s rankings in various search engines.

The thing is, even before the transition, Yahoo! Small Business is a web hosting provider that’s lesser known compared to other brands. They came in late in the game, but they probably thought it’s better late than never when they launched their hosting packages. It may not be the best option for everyone but there’s something about this web host that’s worth taking a look at. For one, it’s a part of a company with a lot of experience and expertise in the field, and they’re now passing it on to their clients. Pricing starts at just $5.99/month, but could drop as low as $3.75/month if you commit with Aabaco for 5 years. The plan already includes 250 email accounts, FREE domain, 100 GB worth of disk space, plus 1000 GB monthly data transfers. In my experience testing out various web hosting services, Aabaco is one such company that offers some of the most feature-rich shared hosting plans available in the market. Set Up a WordPress Blog with Aabaco Small Business

Many web hosting providers are often compatible with popular blogging platform, WordPress. They offer managed WordPress hosting packages that are especially designed for those who love to build their blogs or websites in this amazing platform. The problem is that Aabaco is one of those few web hosts that don’t come with managed WordPress hosting. This means that you have to do the heavy work yourself if you wish to migrate an existing WordPress site or want to build one from the ground-up.

You can actually import your WordPress site from the control panel, via the “Blog Manager”. But if you’re using the Basic shared hosting plan, you won’t find the option to do so. Why? Because it doesn’t come included in the package! In short, you need to upgrade to a higher plan before you can import or create a WordPress-based site. I found this to be quite a hassle, especially when I know that every other web host I’ve tested allow me to one-click install WordPress even with their most basic shared hosting plan.

So if you upgrade to their Advanced or Premier plan, sure enough, you’ll be able to find the WordPress icon in the “Blog Manager” section of the control panel. Once you click it, you must enter your WordPress username, password, and email address, and then you can start setting up your WordPress blog.

Seeing as they’ve only recently transitioned to a new web hosting company, I’m pretty sure adding a managed WordPress hosting plan isn’t under Aabaco’s radar yet. Hopefully, they’ll add one, along with VPS and dedicated web hosting. But until then, I suggest you look somewhere else if you’re looking for convenience in creating and managing a WordPress site.

Control Panel

While I prefer the cPanel control panel, I must admit I’m quite impressed with Aabaco’s easy-to-use control panel. Aptly called the Business Control Panel, it serves as the hub or entry point through which you can access various tools and services offered by Aabaco. You can directly access your control panel here. If you haven’t signed into your hosting account, you will be prompted to enter your Aabaco username and password. You can access the Business Control Panel from most screens in a Business Email account simply by doing the following avenue of action:

  • Click the “Manage My Services” button found near the upper right corner of the screen.

  • Access control panels associated with the service(s) in your hosting account
  • Check domain-based email
  • Upgrade or downgrade your current hosting plan or purchase add-ons

The Business Control Panel has a user-friendly interface. You can easily add or delete pages, change the layouts, and customize the designs to your liking. Overall, it’s straightforward and plain simple – perfect for newbies!

Having problems with your site? Aabaco provides a “System Status” page where you can check recent technical issues that have been logged. This goes to show that Aabaco is serious about providing quality service, so much so that they’re transparent about any issues faced by their clients and that they’re doing their best to fix them.

For those who are already familiar with using control panels like cPanel and vDeck, using the Business Control Panel will be a walk in the park. But for advanced users who want a bit more “spice” in their site-building experience, it may appear bland and boring. So if you want more advanced features and controls, you might want to consider going for a web host that offers the vDeck or cPanel control panel.

Uptime and Reliability

Many customers report that Aabaco generally provides stable hosting service, without any major issues. But since they’re focused on small businesses, their hosting operation tends to be vulnerable to traffic spikes. This means that your website will crash if you suddenly experience a huge influx of visitors in your site and the server could no longer handle it.

Traffic spikes during holiday shopping events are particularly troublesome. They hit many of the sites hosted by Aabaco which can often end up slowing everyone down or even causing major downtime. The worst is that it tends to occur at the worst times since businesses need their website to be at its optimum performance during peak times more than ever.

My advice? If you don’t want your business to be disrupted due to traffic spikes and performance issues brought about by the server, go for a web host that offers more robust hosting packages – one with VPS and dedicated server hosting options. BlueHost is the best place for you to get started.

Customer Support

Customer SupportThere may be a few hiccups with some of Aabaco’s services, but it’s with their help and support that they truly need to straighten out. First of all, they don’t have a live chat facility available, which is unfortunate for those who require immediate help. I give them credit for providing email ticketing, a knowledgebase, and a few video tutorials, though. But the real problem lies in their phone support. It’s difficult to navigate and when I tried to contact them, I had to wait a good 12 minutes before a representative answered the phone. It’s one of the longest times I had to wait for phone support, which kind of puts Aabaco in a bad light. I hope they provide estimates so customers won’t have to be stuck waiting for someone to answer their call.

The long wait time aside, there’s still something good to say about their customer support. They have a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the rep who answered my call even spoke with great clarity so I was pretty sure that I was speaking to someone in the US. I asked him about the difference between their shared hosting plans and their eCommerce hosting solutions and it just took a moment for him to provide the answers I was looking for. The level of expertise and professionalism presented by the rep impressed me, which somehow made up for the long wait time. Still, responsiveness is key so I’d give their customer support 3 out of 5 stars.

Aabaco Small Business is fairly new in the web hosting game so while they’re still transitioning to become a better web hosting company, I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt. Final Verdict – Recommended for Small Business Owners

If you’re in need of a simple web host and you like the idea of being associated with an Internet giant like Yahoo!, then Aabaco Small Business is a good option for you. They may not be the cheapest (though not the most expensive) in the market, but they do offer plenty of features that give value for money and will really make you think about getting them.

Advanced users will most likely get bored with the basic functionality of this web host, and their hosting packages pale in comparison to other top-ranking web hosting services. But if you don’t have experience and knowledge in coding and programming, then Aabaco may be for you.

Still, if you want a fully stocked web host, it’s best to look elsewhere since Aabaco only offers shared and eCommerce hosting solutions. In fact, the lack of diversity in their web hosting packages make me recommend this web host with reservations.

Even worse, the customer feedback posted below shows Aabaco is rapidly going downhill and seems to just ignore customer support requests for the most part.

My recommendation is that you look at HostGator and consider them as an option. Here’s why…

    + PROS: Absolutely no positives
    - CONS: No 301 redirects. Customer service so bad I dread calling. Aabaco doesn't trust their own employees to do anything and the "rules" they must follow. The 'rules' make no sense. For example, you can't provide a credit card on the phone. Expect to spend hours on the phone. The interface is 10 years old. Trying to transfer my domain away from this nightmare and they rejected transferring the domain because they said the domain had been transferred in the last 60 days. The domain has been with this company for years. Completely terrible.

    I was with Yahoo for years. Not a great website, I am not tech savvy but it was basic and it worked. Then it went to Aabaco and it all went to hell. No customer support, I couldn’t get into my own site, hours listening to a horrible song with what sounded like a whip cracking and finally gave up. A friend helped me get back in and I posted on the site that this was a terrible company and I wouldn’t be renewing and just left it. That part seems to still be up. Now I am getting emails saying my card is expired and I need to re up and some other vague threatening emails. I think the email this morning was spam with someone wanting to help me with my website. It certainly wasn’t Aabaco! I couldn’t figure out how to leave a minus star.

    Avoid Aabacoo at all costs. Do not do any website business with this company.

    I am a US web developer that has had the privilege to work with many hosting companies. Recently, I had a client whom already purchased web hosting and wanted to forward traffic to a new domain.

    Aabacoo blocks access to .htaccess folder and requires purchasing more than web hosting and domain services to forward all site traffic. After hours of working with two separate support reps, all they could do was forward my client’s homepage… They could not answer if WordPress or WordPress Plugins were supported.

    Please, use any other web service provider if you do not want a complete hassle.

    DO NOT HOST WITH THIS COMPANY — YOU WILL REGRET IT. It has to be the worst hosting experience of my life, and I’ve hosted quite a lot of domains with many different providers. I can’t think of any provider that could possibly be worse than this company.

    Terrible service. Yahoo small business client for 15 years. The occasional time we had to call we always got prompt service. Not any more. Tried to access the email I have been using for 15 years. A page directed me to creating an Aabaco account. Created an account an got a page saying a verification message was sent to my email. Tried to access my email and a page said I had to verify my account using the message sent to my email that I cannot access. Called the customer service number and was told I had an estimated 15 minute wait. After over an hour wait someone cam eon the phone and then kept saying they could not hear me so they terminated the call. Called again and was told I had an estimated 15 minute wait. After just waiting over an hour. Someone is lying. Time to find a new service.

    This has to be the worse web hosting company ever. The customer service is clueless. I tried setting up a word press site. What a nightmare. I find it hard to believe that no other person has had the same problem. The second time I called, the rep tried to help me. He gave me the same bad information as the first person I spoke with a few days ago. Needless to say, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. After nearly 4 hours on the line with customer support, we were back to the same spot as I started. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR WORDPRESS HOSTING. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NOT USING THE BLOG AS YOUR HOME PAGE.

    I’m not happy with Aabaco Small Business (owned by Yahoo!). We had a dispute over whether I had given them sufficient notice of closing my domain name account. The trouble was that after I moved my business elsewhere they continued to bill me the exact same amount, which I didn’t notice on my credit card statements.
    I eventually reviewed the file and became aware of the problem because their accounting system generated an email to me when my credit card number changed and their next charge was rejected.
    Up to that point I didn’t notice their withdrawals because they stopped sending me the notices of upcoming charges that they had previously been sending!
    They refused to communicate about the issue by email, which sucks. Dealing with them by phone was frustrating. Each call started with approximately a quarter hour of waiting on hold while they ‘verified’ my identity. They insisted they could record the conversation but that I was not allowed to tape record it.
    Aabaco Small Business (aka Yahoo Small Business) was still not accredited by the Better Business Bureau as of 2017/1/13, nevertheless you can get their BBB rating at http://www.bbb.org. My complaint entered at the BBB in December 2016 resulted in no refund.
    In my experience, Yahoo! provides fairly good other services, with some minor glitches. Unfortunately those glitches can remain unfixed for years.

    - CONS: Customer Service Reps were repetitive and slow.

    I’m not tech savvy so please persevere, I had a web page built by a webmaster went through melbourne IT then it ends up on yahoo no problems at all very happy with the results.
    Yahoo sells out to AAbaco nothing but problems so the webmaster moves my webpage to namecheap.
    Everything is good on their end Namecheap but AAbaco has done something we cannot get the domain name to show up on a search. I now spend 200.00 a week on advertising.

    This is the worst company I have ever dealt with.. Make no mistake.. The negative reviews you see are legit and you should be warned.. I do not have time to relive the nightmare with these clowns but just hope my warning will keep somebody else from such a nightmare experience.

    Aabaco is a complete disaster. I began an attempt to update my registrant email address 3 weeks ago but they have made such a mess of this simple request that I have been informed that my domain will be suspended by ICANN due to a verification email not being issued by Aabaco. I have spent hours with their technical staff trying to resolve this simple issue to no avail. Now I am stuck in a panic changing my email address on every account, website, etc that I make use of. If this was a business domain I’d be angry beyond belief — and I’ve read of many small business owners having the same suspension problem as I describe.

    i do not have any ambitions in hosting. I was directed here after reading one of my favorite websites yahoo group message saying Aabco dropped the ball. All concerned and directly effected must report all issues to the FTC and the FCC.

    I will say that this behavior is very similar to Yahoo chatroom issues Yahoo never cared to resolve before Yahoo finally closed down their entire chatroom servive in 2012.

    Yahoo stops supporting a service it deems not lucrative. Even if there are active customers. They literally turn a deaf ear.

    Basically Aabaco is holding my domain hostage. It appears that someone at Aabaco placed a clientHold on my domain six days ago. It appears that this was a result of a security challenge that was emailed to me at an inactive address ….. inactive for the last 10 years. Obviously the email bounced back and they shut me out of my account. I have been told that they need 10 digits of my credit card to release the hold….. seriously! I am not inclined to give someone in India (I think) any credit card info. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Now they ask to open a new case and have not got the reply since two weeks. I am unable to contact anybody there. I am providing aabaco services to two of my customers and I am stuck with this email provider.

    I gave up on them. Basically, in my opinion, all they care is collecting money from you. Imagine services terminated before the billing cycle, they claimed that they didn’t receive any instructions from the system, thus, billing continues even though the domain has been transferred out. This is such a stupid process. I can’t imagine they are still in business. Alerted the customer services on what was experienced and they couldn’t care less because Mr Customer is always wrong ! Will never recommend anyone to subscribe to their crappy services. Move out !!!

      I’ve been chasing them for refund since December and although someone did reply and ask for the automated cancellation email response from them, sent to them and guess what…..Christmas has gone and even the New Year has passed, nothing from them and when I drop them an email to check on the refund status, the case is closed without me knowing it. What a crap company is this man? It is so obvious you can’t reach them at all. Tried to use their contact form and best part, in order to contact them I need to have an existing service with them otherwise you can try till the cows come home you can’t reach them. How I wish I can direct this to the owners of the business (not sure if they even bother)….

    Customer services very poor, could not talk to manager, the same answer every time I call-in ” manager will call you back” but nobody call and they don’t feel are Bad when lies to customers. My case # 372168 have been 40 days not solves issue yet. Waste your time when try talk to them because give you a promise call back. Stay far away from Aabaco. I will cancel service after solve this issue.

    So far behind the curve compared to web hosting and designing tools such as Squarespace, Wix and WordPress. Even after going through the pain and process of upgrading to an “Advanced” Web Hosting plan, hopeful to enjoy a modern tool in the form of their “Site Builder” I’ve experienced a total let down… Yeah there are hundreds of templates, but they are all for Web 1.0, with nothing even remotely modern (no scrolling feature images) and the designs of the templates are really cheesy clip art.

    I just cancelled my domain name today, upon seeing a charge on my credit card. Even though the domain wasn’t set to renew until September 4th, Aabco refuses to refund the charge, saying that they “already sent the money to the domain registry.” Sure. All of it? So Aabco keeps nothing for themselves? Right….

    I had a lot of trouble understanding the “customer service” rep, with his thick Indian accent. And he kept repeating himself. His supervisor had better English, but an even less helpful attitude. The upshot is, according to their arbitrary rules, you’d better cancel your renewal more than two weeks in advance if you don’t want to get billed. I will never deal with Aabco again, or with their parent conglomerate Yahoo. Not that Yahoo could care about customers anymore. I’ll be sure to report my credit card lost soon, so I can get a new number because I don’t trust shady overseas “customer service centers” like these not to just keep charging away. I’ll stick with GoDaddy which last I heard, is still American.

    Aabaco is a SCAM!!! Why did Yahoo do this to it’s loyal small business customers?!? Aabaco is holding my domain name hostage and I’m planning to file a class action lawsuit against Yahoo. They don’t respond to emails, they don’t return calls, they are just another fiasco based in India and ripping off small businesses. HELP!!!!

    I have been hosted by Yahoo and now Abacco by Yahoo since 2005. I have had absolutely no issues with them including the switch over from Yahoo to Abacco and any time I need technical support it is only a phone call away. Customer service have always been helpful and courteous and if I have had any issues they are resolved with that phone call or they get back to me if a issue is more in depth. I feel that anything related to Yahoo ecommerce is the best and that is why from the beginning I used a top ranked host. I would recommend them to anyone that wants to start up a web store. I have never had down time with Yahoo/Abacco and being ranked in the top 10 of google, I get a lot of page hits. I hear a lot of horror stories from other web hosts who are hear today and gone tomorrow. I can rely on Yahoo/Abacco to be there and again, highly recommend them to anyone.

    + PROS: yahoo abacco is always at the top of their game and where excellent in my starting of a mobile app They are innovative and keep current on all the trends happening on the internet.
    - CONS: It would be nice when a product is sold particularly for those that are unique with only one item that it would be marked as sold. Would also be nice to enter the inventory section from the (back) end as I have a lot of one of a kind products and sometimes easier to work from the back/end rather than go thru each page from the front end to the item I wish to remove..

    We have used Yahoo business services long before they split itself into Abaco and the “rest”. What Marisa Mayer did with good company is well beyond my understanding. While she had good product management background, her management skills are in my opinion well below average. Abaco unfortunately reflects what can happen when good company is not well managed.

      I view Aabaco and its customer service – and Yahoo – as a disaster. Phone help is terrible and answers unreliable, sign in problems continue for Yahoo and are unresolved. Aabaco shows one price for a hosting plan and bills another. No resolution. My decision is to exit and to seek a reliable, preferably Canadian host but to be careful of from the frying pan to the fire… I rate Aabaco as 1 star and Yahoo email as 0 stars while their sign in problems remain.     + PROS: Fantastic support with caring tech crew and excellent follow through. Checked back to be sure all was working following a disastrous botched move to another company, ball dropped on other end. Aabaco worked with me initially for the change, when the change was a problem, and I was no longer a company, impressed me so much I moved back
    - CONS: None. My initial move was because I did not need a merchant account and-and storefront as I had needed several years before under the original yahoo business services.

    I have just gotten off of the customer chat line with AAbaco and I will tell you it was the best service I ever got. FAR better than Yahoo. Seriously. I do not know why there are complaints. I have had to contact them before and had good service then too. I am not impressed with their willingness to pass you off to a “help article” but when chatting with real people, they are awesome.

    + PROS: the transition from Yahoo to Aabaco was well managed with no interruption to my site.
    - CONS: I do not feel I get as good of support with SiteBuilder

    They have overcharged me by $1200 over the last 6 months that i can tell. They are bloating my inventory figures saying i have 42,500 pieces of inventory, when in reality i have around $1000!! I am a home based business so there is no way i could have that much!! And they are charging me for the amount of inventory they are putting down that i have. I have screamed also, which i don’t do, have made 4 phone calls , many emails which they totally ignore. They admit they have a “bug” as well, and are escalating it and working on it , and then yesterday overcharge my checking account AGAIN! The girl in billing figured out the problem yesterday, that they have been having my inventory count wrong, but their answer to the BBB today was that they would continue to work on it and said they gave me somebody to contact which is an out and out lie. I filed a complaint with the attorney general today. This seems like fraud to me.

    I just have a domain name, so Aabaco was too expensive to keep. The service period ended July 16, and I transferred my domain name away on July 9. Then I get my CC statement saying they charged the $35 on July 3, two weeks before the end of the service period! I called and asked for a refund, and they said sorry, but we’re keeping the money.

    Run far far away. I have had so much problems with them. They turn off my website with out ANY notice. I told them I wanted to cancel my service they said ok I would not get charged and now I have another year worth of web hosting withdrawn from my bank account. They refuse to refund me or even listen to the recorded calls and because the representative never documented my word has not merit. There reasoning was well if you really cancelled it then why did you call back the next day…. Ummm BECAUSE I SPENT HOURS TALKING TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND THEY DID NOT RELEASE THE HOLD ON MY DOMAIN OR CANCEL MY SERVICES!! So yeah I called back because they did not do what they said they would do. I honestly can’t believe his reasoning for me not cancelling my account was that I called back the next day. These people are a joke. I don’t think they understand English they just agree with you and then nothing is done. I had to beg him to go back and listen to the recordings which I highly doubt they will. I can not go through the phone and document something…I said it, it is then your employees job to document that. UNBELIEVABLE.

    I work for a company with over 200 domains and more than a dozen website which some are hosted with Aabaco. By far Aabaco is the worst to work with, maintaining and receiving support.
    Today is the second time one of our website went down without getting any notification.
    Calling Aabaco involves hours on the phone, mostly on waiting and with very little help from rude representatives.
    They truly don’t care!!!

    + PROS: Absolutely nothing!
    - CONS: Everything!!! stay away.

    I have been a Yahoo! Small Business web hosting subscriber for nearly 17 years. I have recommended their business to many, and they have made a small fortune off of me due to such.

    The days have passed that I recommend Yahoo! Small Business. The moment this occurred was when they switched to Aabaco. The problems immediately began for me when they made the transition. My first call to Yahoo! Small Business ever was in mid November of 2015 and that’s when I saw they had changed. Now, understand in 14 years I had *never once* had to call Yahoo! for problems. It is now two years later and I have now called a total of eight times due to issues, and every single last one of those issues was because once my website went down all together, and seven times because it wouldn’t allow me to edit my site at all. That’s four times a year. That’s eight calls too many.

    When I call the support individuals are kind, but difficult to understand through their thick Indian accents and I find myself politely asking them to repeat themselves often. My calls are always “escalated” and I don’t have an answer or a problem fixed until 24 to 72 hours later. Part of my living is building websites. Not being able to fix things for your customers for 24 up to 72 hours is difficult. Aabaco makes me look bad as a professional because I have invested my trust and efforts into their services, only for it to crash and ultimately let down those I work for. It affects my earnings and I allow them to know this, but no reimbursement has ever been given to myself or my customers.

    I miss Yahoo! Small Business. I abhor Aabaco. I am currently looking for a new place to host that is simple, easy and affordable and that which gives me email addresses in the packages. To all of you out there who are going through this terror known as Aabaco, I sympathize with you. I wish there was a way we could make a change in their services, but the only change I have found that I can make is to switch to a new company. And after being a customer for nearly two decades, that is a fact that saddens me.

    + PROS: Good layout, easy enough to manage once you get used it, stats are available and updated often, email is easy to access
    - CONS: Cannot alter my sites when needed about 25% of the time, hard to understand customer support individuals, problems are not fixed for 24 to 72 hours, customer service has no follow up, the company doesn't seem to care about the customer's dissatisfaction and offers no remorse for their blatant errors.

    Being computer illiterate, I got the run around for three weeks, once I realized my site, just a personal site about the demise of the earth, was not found. Three weeks with Apple, and Earthlink and Yahoo. Finally someone told me Yahoo had sold the web hosting to another company. I saw on a bunch of sites; how this new place is extracting money from accounts without permission, holding and selling back domain names, No I want my domain name, I have had it for 15 years, respectallbeings.com it goes with what I do. People love it. And I am bed ridden due to a mishap with a atomic bomb so I got out of bed for three years to go to a class twice a week to try to put up a site, kinda slow mentally when it comes to technical stuff, it took forever; now will I lose all that I did. This is making me cry, all that suffering for nothing. All my work. And the worst part is I do not know nor have the money to pay someone to help transfer if that is even possible. And the message that these fools can use any of my images. I did not sign anything, it was just transfered to them, I signed nor agreed to nothing. All those images I took. I am a photojournalist, they are all copyrighted. How can they use my images? These jackasses have left me to cry in bed here. I need my site, I may no longer able to get out in the world, but this was my offering to the world. And now I have nothing to offer. In total sympathy with those who use their sites to make an income. Damn these fools.

    Working with Aabaco support has brought a new level of frustration into my life that I do not need! I love the Yahoo sales team in Oregon, they are great.
    But the technical support, or lack thereof, is atrocious!
    It takes about 8 questions and 5 minutes to just get them to verify you and actually get to the point of the call.
    The technicians English and understanding of English is very poor. Their training seems to be pretty much non-existent. Trying to fix a little, bitty problem, they managed to wipe out days and days of work I had done. And instead of even trying to fix the problem…. they told me to just redo it.
    Please take heed and find someone else… Aabaco is NOT Yahoo…… and shame on Yahoo for turning over their customers to these people.

    + PROS: Their version of Site Builder is pretty easy to use.
    - CONS: The worse technical support I have ever witnessed first hand. They cannot fix anything and in trying to do so, they cause additional problems. When they tell you they will call you back, don't believe it. I sat home for 1 1/2 days waiting to hear from them.... lies, over and over again

    Our website is not a wordpress site… But, we do maintain a wordpress section on the site. Aabaco does not understand that… The website was built with HTML and PHP coding. It also has some Java. Aabaco calls that a third party… I am not sure were to start I am so irritated with this Host. We have been using Yahoo sense 2009. I cannot say anything special about Yahoo. But, at least things were left alone. When Aabaco took over they changed the accepted Permalinks for wordpress… So anyone who had been maintaining a blog for several years such as us and had chose to use the descriptive text permalink we now left with links that went nowhere. Thats right, every blog written was now dead and all organic traffic to those blogs was now dead… When you call Aabaco their customer service reps are trained not to help you with your issue but to instead say that “your site is a third party site and we cannot help with coding”. This response is fine if I was looking for help with coding… But, I would never ask for help from these idiots for that. I simply wanted to point out this huge mistake and have them correct it so that our blog pages would appear once again. Sadly this has not been corrected. The only solution was to change the permalinks to another type ie date… So now our old links are dead and our new links get zero traffic and have no SEO built into the link description…

    Three months latter… The website forms stop working… Call to Aabaco, they cannot help with third party sites… I try to explain these forms have been working sense they were turned on in 2011. They try to tell me something is wrong with the script… I try to explain the script has not changed… This goes on for a while and finally I give up with their useless brand of help and start to test for issues on my side. I rebuild the forms, I change how the forms are sent, I change out and reduce the emails they go to, I build empty one field form test pages and still nothing is working… I reset back to my original form and call Aabaco again. I seem to have found the needle in the haystack as the guy who answered was quick to tell me that they are having some issues with their SSL and that is preventing emails to be sent… They are working on the issue and keep checking the page… The next morning forms are coming over again… YAY they fixed it. But, how? Well if you use Aabaco you have access to a shared SSL page. When you make use of one of these pages and you access that link on your website your domain is appended with a prefix accessing a SSL server. So instead of website.com/content you have [email protected]/content (I know, kind of sucks). But, we knew this is what we had and needed some content to be secure so we made use of it. When they “fixed” the SSL issue they did not fix anything they simply moved the SSL to a new server and abandoned the old one. What does that mean? well, instead of p2 now it is p11. Thats right after killing all of our blog links they have now killed all of our secure section links. All content pointing to p2 is now a broken mess setting on a different server. But, hey at least the forms are working again.. Really, that was all we actually care about. We are paying to have people find those forms and fill them out. So we roll forward..

    Three months later.. Forms have stopped working again… Now I am familiar with this.. I know what has to be done… How happy the Aabaco person I get will be when they are greeted with a customer who not only knows what has happened but also how to fix it… Right?… Well, lets just say that Aabaco does not support third part websites. Almost an hour going back and forth with the first idiot about how this is not a website issue. He eventually agrees to let me speak to his supervisor who is currently on another call but will call me back in an hour. 16 hours latter I stop holding my breath and call them again… This time I sit on the phone awaiting a supervisor… When I get this guy he is missing his ears.. Dont get me wrong I have allot of respect for anyone who is missing something from their body and still making it through life, and feel that they are very capable people and can do allot of greatness in any industry. But, I am not sure if a person who is not capable of listening is the best selection for a customer service supervisor position. I rely explain everything to this guy very clearly and he does not get it. I then ask that they just change the SSL server again. He tells me that that is just not possible. I said you guys have done it before… He says no they have not.. I say get your manager on the phone right now. I am now 1 hour and 45 minuets into this call with Aabaco. On average you will spend a minimum of at least 30 minuets with them so you can see this one has gotten out of hand… The “manager” is still only familiar with the same canned responses that the original customer service had… They do not support third party websites… He again tells me that changing the SSL server is not possible. I had him go to the site and click on a link that goes to a SSL page. He did and could see the page is broken, it is just an outline missing all images and styling. I had him change p11 to p2 and click enter then bypass the security warning. He did. I asked him how the page looks now. He agreed the page is now styled with color and images. He agreed this is proof that the server had indeed changed. Then I asked that he have it changed again. He went on about how there is nothing he can do and he knows no other department that is above him… Apparently I hit the top level of Aabaco. This guy them muted his phone and just sat there… I guess he is not allowed to hangup on irate customers… but he can stop speaking to them.. I told him what a piece of trash he is and hung up the phone. 2 hour phone call and the “manager” stopped speaking to me after 15 minuets… I guess his time is more important than the 7 years we put into a website that they have destroyed……

    If you were a Yahoo to Aabaco customer, Im sorry… I feel your pain… I am now going to another host. I did not want to in the past because I was worried about how it would effect wordpress and SSL links… But, it looks like Aabaco already took care of that concern.

    I am not sure if obscenities are appropriate for this website so I have left them out but if you would like to know how this review should have looked fill in every space with one of your choosing… If this story prevents even one person from going to the even, useless monster that is Aabaco it is worth it.

    I am sadly burdened with this company – Yahoo was the host for my small business’s site well before I started handling the web site. Then moved to Luminate? Eventually Aabaco. I knew that Yahoo was bad with WordPress, really awful. But I swear Aabaco has managed to be so much worse. I work on another site full time with a REAL WEB HOST and the difference between this and that are night and day. Things I can do simply at my day job are a time suck nightmare with these people. I kept getting threatening emails about the version of WP we were running – I update all the time, folks. I know how to use WP. But since they want your files to be in one location, but WP needs them really to be in another location (or at least this was the case years ago, with Yahoo), they were looking at WP files from 2010 in a /blog directory that we were not using. Any fool could have clicked on the /blog URL and seen that there was nothing there. I finally realized I could just FTP the new WP files into the fake location to get them off my back – and not delete our site, which was what they were threatening.

    Now I know, yes, that there are security reasons for needing to update WP – even in the dummy location that we’re not using. Someone smarter than me could probably make use of that to do something malicious. But the fact that I was panicked on the phone, after holding for almost an hour, the day before flying out on vacation, with the threat of our site being deleted, with the WORST support possible, and no one would really help me because I wasn’t the owner on record, and that no one could even make heads or tails of why I had a problem in the first place… unacceptable.

    DO NOT USE AABACO.

    + PROS: My site is up and exists. My files sit there, reasonably stable and presumably secure. That's about it.
    - CONS: Pretty much everything else. WordPress support? Ha. Find a tech support rep who is fairly well informed about the internet in general? Nope. And I, as the web master for our biz, can't get any real help on the phone because I'm not the owner? Are you kidding me? This place is a joke. A huge joke.

    sorry but this was possibly the worst move to make, I dont recommend hosting your domain here. I am in the process of trying to transfer right now. The site is so slow it is ridiculous. It’s taking over an hour so far just to move one domain over.

    They turned one of my sites off and claimed they detected malware. Refused to tell me name of suspected files or where on the drive, they insisted I follow a ridiculous time consuming procedure that stood 0% chance of solving the problem. After two days and five long phone calls I finally found someone who was willing to go against company directives and actually help me by giving me the information I asked for instead of telling me it was impossible. I then quickly deleted the files they thought were infected and solved the problem. Two days later another one of my sites stopped working because Yahoo’s Live web Insights script was not executing and was hanging the load of any page on the site. They have catagorically refused to turn off the Live web Insights feature or provide another means of getting my site back up. There customer “help” amounts to calculated customer abuse. The related mail service is clunky and absurd and a pain to work with. Avoid Yahoo like the plague.

    I’ve been a yahoo customer for years, never had any problems until the change over. Now I can only access my mail via a web browser. I cannot get onto the platform to sort out issues and have resorted to sending mail via google. Very disappointing for a paid service.

    Down times are high and frequent! The People at the customer care are so stupid are arrogant! feel like hitting my head on the wall talking to them.
    They Suspended my website by mistake then took them months to get it back, and now it doesn’t work properly! Stupid people ruined a subdomain I had!

    As Yahoo Small Business, it used to be at least quiet and serviceable, if unimpressive, but under Aabaco it’s deteriorated. I just have a personal website, probably like 15 years old, so it’s all handwritten HTML and txt files, 90% genealogy. Well, today they sent me a dire email about how “The Aabaco Small Business team needs to speak with you immediately about a serious issue with your account.” No details. After half an hour of having some Indian dude ask me a dozen obscure questions on the phone about my account to confirm that I was indeed the guy they had just sent this email too, they told me it had been shut down due to malware. But they weirdly couldn’t tell me what file it was, what kind of malware, or anything other than that. So, I was instructed to download my entire site by FTP and scan it myself. Yep. Now, I should note that I haven’t added any content to this other than HTML files, written in Notepad, in like five years, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t write a virus, but they didn’t want to hear about that. Now, guess what doesn’t seem to work – the FTP! I could overlook the new extra-clunky interface, but I want webhosting that doesn’t waste my time, and this is not that kind of webhosting anymore, it seems. I should also note that I use SiteGround for my business, so I know what decent hosting looks like, and this ain’t it. I had a few issues with SiteGround when my site got DoSed, but they eventually helped me fix it in a workable way.

    + PROS: Simple to use I guess
    - CONS: Clunky interface, dubious support, random unexplained account suspensions

    Absolute nightmare. I have been with Yahoo web hosting for years and years. My most recent domain I set up with them before they transitioned to Aabaco was a merchant account, I got it at a great promo price. I never ended up using those features but kept it since it was cheap. After the price went up (now Aabaco) I tried to switch plans online. It wouldn’t let me. Irritated, I tried to cancel altogether, it wouldn’t let me. So I called and tried to just have them switch me over to business email with no web hosting. Well that was a mistake! After three long troubleshooting phone calls with foreign customer service personnel that I could barely understand, my emails still did not work. It sounded like they had no clue how anything worked. The last call they finally told me it would take 24 hours for the changes to take effect. The email never started working. So I decided I would try to just let them host the domain and I would switch to a different business email provider, thinking it would be easier for me this way. Well no, apparently they won’t host your domain without some sort of other package to go along with it. So I’m through with them. Ive started the process of transferring my domain today. They suck! The worst experience I have ever had.

      I had a situation similar to Karen’s. Kept getting charged some exorbitant fee every three months with no heads-up. No explanation of what plan I was on. Couldn’t see how to change it.

      Finally called them today when they charged me out of nowhere and overdrew my account. Finally got them to tell me they had me on their highest plan. Turned out the button to change the plan that was supposed to be on my account page was–guess what?–not there. Said it was already charged and that I’d have to wait three months to change anything. When I pointed out that we’d have the same situation then as now, so why not just fix it now, the guy actually whined that they couldn’t do that. When I insisted I talk to someone who could fix this, he made some lame promise that his supervisor would call me within three hours and tell me the same thing. That was around the same time I started mentioning the word “fraud.”

      The worst part is that all of my old Geocities files are on there and it wouldn’t be easy to switch them to another service, especially when I have so many other things to be done right now. Plus, I’m not sure I could keep my domain name. This happened at a really bad time and I am just so fed up with these people that I can’t even.

      I’m calling the Better Business Bureau tomorrow.

    All the comments above only conclude my findings. The question I have is, how or if I can have the website that I created with the Yahoo sitebuilder platform which took me years to make, hosted with an other host. I don’t want to loos all the hard work I did.

    They charged me for two different transactions… for 2 different amounts. It’s not like I clicked the button twice by accident. They tried to charge me for 164 and 200+ within minutes of one another, and I was just trying to renew my hosting. I find this company to be a fraud, and would avoid at ALL costs.

    This company has been charging me $9.95 a month for 2 years..(I know a few month of this might of been Yahoo). I have had to cancel my CC to stop the charge as there is no reachable customer support. They have done nothing for my small business. Now that they aren’t getting the measly $9.95 they email me several times a day..there is no un-subscribe button..Aabaco offers nothing..NOTHING. Do not do business with this company.

    Worst web hosting company I have ever run into! Do not sign up! Yahoo had its quirks and limitations but Yahoo was so simple and fast to get a static site up.

    Aabaco’s site tool does not work and I found old sites migrated from Yahoo almost impossible to maintain. Their help is full of dead links so plan on a lot of phone time if you find a problem.

    There “Activate Account” dialog does not even work. An extra week on the phone just to activate the a “new” Aabaco account that was set up by Aabaco. Finally found a smarter guy after a week of talking to script readers. He acknowledged they had a serious bug and could believe it until we walked through together a half dozen times. I will never go back and advising all clients that used Yahoo to quickly migrate to other web hosting options. I don’t think they will be in business very long.

    + PROS: They do answer phones.
    - CONS: The people that answer the phones have no clue how there site tool works. I should say does not work.

    I have been with Yahoo for over 10 years and was shocked to see the decline once the small business division was moved to Aabaco. I FTP (using FileZilla) my .html pages and they end up disappearing from the server and sometimes I end up finding them in wrong directories. My site is constantly up and then down. I can’t run a business and expect my customers to trust my brand if my website is always unpredictable. I recently signed up with GoDaddy, but have been reading horrible reviews on them too. Not sure where to go! I’m just trying to find an ecommerce solution that works. Any suggestions would be helpful!

    + PROS: The customer service reps who are all in India try to be helpful, but they don't really know what they're doing.
    - CONS: Everything else. I have no faith in Aabaco and it's such a shame that Yahoo would make such a horrible decision like this.

    OMG and I thought I was having a bad day with them. Check this: As a web master and hosting dude for many clients, I had to deal with these unintelligent wanna be’s for the first time today via chat. My client wanted to forward his old web to a new one. So at his request I went to the domain control panel to forward and the link it wasn’t there. So i said to myself, I will hop down to the chat and get some highly motivated customer service rep who knew her stuff and how to fix things. Boy was I wrong. I was told I had to be the owner of the account to make changes for security reason. I’m like no way this is to funny. Im like I have all the info and currently in the account now…She replies I cant help you unless you are the owner because I could be anybody trying to do harm. So I said…let me get this freaking straight. Im in my clients account , I have his info in front of me, so tell me why Im freaking talking to you if iI’m here to do harm. Anyway with many accounts over at Go Daddy I have talked to many techs on chat and never never had this problem. So Im urging my client to bail out of this fly by night service and land somewhere in greener pastures.

    We had been with yahoo for nearly 8 years and were generally satisfied, though we were ready to move to a new platform with updated features. Shortly after building my new site elsewhere and forwarding my yahoo owned domain to the new site, yahoo switched to Aabaco… and then the problems started. Apparently with the switch to Aabaco the downgrade feature was dropped, so I found myself paying nearly $90/month to Aabaco for a Merchant Plus account that I was not using. I called Aabaco customer service and was told that the downgrade feature would be added in the near future. The customer rep told me that I should wait for this addition and that they would refund me for the months I had paid extra. About a month later I called Aabaco again to see if the downgrade option was almost ready and was told that, no, the feature is in fact not being added, and that no, I will not receive a refund as he did not see any notes regarding my previous conversation. Aabaco advised that I should transfer my domain to another company (which I had been trying to avoid, so as not to potentially disrupt my website or email, and there really should be no need for me to switch to another company only to continue forwarding my site). I transferred my domain to Godaddy and in the process my email server did of course go down for nearly an hour. Aabaco did not seem to care one bit and continued to refuse to refund me. I canceled my service with Aabaco and now plan to move all of the domains that I own with Yahoo/Aabaco out.

    I have been horrified by the service provided by Aabaco ever since they took over from Yahoo. The speed of my site has consistently gotten worse, and when you go to their webpage, they go out of their way to hide their support page. I just got done starting a Google Adword campaign, where I had gotten 85 clicks to our page. I thought I was doing great, until I saw our Google Analytics, which went flatline. Every one of those clicks when to a dead website, and it was their fault. we were fully paid, and it just went dead. I couldn’t believe how there was no direct phone number. It was literally buried. They wanted me to do my own support. In short, I just lost $220 worth of adword $$ and these guys couldn’t even give me a credit, and there wasn’t a supervisor that I could escalate my concerns. I’m dumping these guys they were so pitiful.

    Web designer here, i have encountered many hosting services and this is by far the worst one ever.
    Nothing works and everything is slow. They do not have apach servers and they have no idea how to make them better.
    MySQL is outdated, PHP is outdated, everything is bad.

    Please, please, for the love of god, do not use this hosting provider, or anything they offer.

    We called them earlier this month about an issue with the our email in our business email account going straight from inbox to trash. They said they will fix the issue and not to touch the trash folder… instead they deleted all the emails that went to trash from our inbox.

    They provided us no solutions for a good 3 weeks, and gave us a run around. We called for the 7th time and we are finally told that our deleted emails cannot be recovered…

    We lost a lot of business emails, and there is no getting them back.

    They deleted our emails from their servers, and gave us a run around for 3 weeks with no solution. We do not recommend using this hosting company (Aabaco) at any cost. Please let me emphasize “at any cost”.

    Aabaco has the worst customer service I have encountered from any company ever. They have failed on many levels and Yahoo needs to restructure the model.     I just got off the phone with Aabaco, after 2 HOURS AND 41 MINUTES, an hour of which was me shouting, which I never, ever do. They had charged a credit card without my authorization, a credit card I had used to purchase new domain names with about a month ago. They said that automatically added this credit card as a form of payment for my entire account, not the just domain names that I’d just purchased, and so when the credit card for my previous domains expired, they just went ahead and charged the other card without telling me. I was livid. There were so many other issues that arose as I dug further into it, that I don’t have the time it would take to write them all down. Bottom line is that when Yahoo shoved me over into this new company without bothering to see if I was OK with it, they shoved me into a company that runs call centers in India with absolutely ruthless “customer care” personnel. I’m disgusted at the way I was treated, and after fighting for this insane amount of time they FINALLY ADMITTED THERE WAS A GLITCH ON THEIR END and they would “look into” processing my refund. Unbelievable. They also threatened to hang up on me because I was so exasperated I used profanity. The call ended with profuse apologies from the “customer care” personnel and reassurances that the problem would be “rectified.” We’ll see…

    I’m never buying a domain through Aabaco again. Ever. I don’t recommend anyone else do it either. I was with Yahoo for 13 years before they moved everything over to Aabaco…not one problem ever with Yahoo. If my cc expired, they simply sent emails until I updated the card, they NEVER took the liberty to charge another card not linked with full permission to get payment.

    + PROS: None that I can think of. I'll never use this company again.
    - CONS: Cons...where do I start? That unfortunately I'm stuck paying them for my domains because I'll lose them all if I don't. Horrible customer service. Horrible tech support. Horrible, horrible company.

    Anyone have a phone number you can call for this dodgy company or even a direct email who have charged my credit card for cancelled services. I have never benn so violated or disgusted by a company EVER.
    There is also no display of expiaration dates or costs ecpected in billing, invoices do not include the referred domain name but a number…this is not helpful when you deal with many domains.
    Strongly advise do not go with this company.

    We have had a yahoo account for over 10 years, we have been mainly using it to setup POP emils for company employees , since Aabaco took over we have been having a hell of a time in setting up new emails and after contacting their support team and telling them our problem and asking them to fix it or we will have to move elsewhere their answer was plane and simple move, this really shows how dedicated their team is in growing their business, so if you read this and either have an account or want to get one with Aabaco DON’T .

    We’ve had a yahoo store since about 2001 or 2. It was never the greatest, but it worked. Since Aabaco took it over it has become a real disaster. We had a billing problem, and managed to talk to someone after more than 25 minutes on hold. They sent us an email saying they were going to “escalate our incident”, to be solved in 24 to 48 hours, at which time they would contact us, which of course they never did, even after I emailed them again. They did fix the problem (after the 48 hours), but we had to dig around to find it ourselves.

    A couple days later we had a customer complaint about our free shipping option not working. It has always worked in the past, so we got on the phone to Aabaco. As you can guess they “escalated our incident” again. After the 48 hours, they didn’t contact us, so we called again, and were told that the problem was being worked on right then and they would contact us in the next couple of hours. Guess what….
    So we’ll try again tonight, but really, we’d like to get our store out of there and find a web host, any suggestions would be appreciated.

    I spent 45 minutes in ‘verification’ of the account before I could convince someone to actually assist me with the questions. 24×7 support doesn’t help when they cannot translate what you need help with.

    They automatically assigned web-hosting to the first of several registered domains, and tell me they cannot change it without cancelling with no refund.

    Yahoo Small Business went from OK to terrible. In 2016, we cannot publish our site changes on any PC due to many software errors, and Aabaco couldn’t care less. Small business owners don’t have this kind of time to waste. I would not recommend Aabaco to my worst enemy. Stay clear of Aabaco at all costs!!!!!

    Aabaco is a disaster. I clicked on this review because it showed 6.8/10 on a Google search results page, and I wanted to see who on Earth was satisfied with this disgraceful company.

    + PROS: Uptime seems OK
    - CONS: Everything other than uptime. Can't view stats, no customer service, nothing works on their own website, takes hours to upload small edits to my own website, etc. I can't believe something associated with Yahoo could be this bad. Please adjust your 6.8/10 rating! NOBODY should host with this company. I'm done ASAP.

      I’m as shocked as you are… Seeing the reviews on this page, it’s getting to the point where it’s clear that even owning Aabaco should be hurting Yahoo’s brand for many people who WOULD be big spenders if their services worked well.

      I will continue adjusting the review score down as I’m really disappointed in Aabaco’s treatment of customers… Seems like a broken, unfinished acquisition.

    I was a pretty happy client of Yahoo Small Business since 2010. THe transition to Aabaco in 2015 has been a total failure and a tragic disaster for former Yahoo customers. Nothing works. They don’t care. Aabaco is a fraud. Stay away.

    I purchased my domain and a week later it still didn’t show up on my account. Called and they said they would cancel the account and that we needed to purchase it again. 3 days after purchasing it again, still nothing. 45 minutes on the phone and they told me they would cancel it again and I needed to repurchase it. I told him if he thought I was going to do that he was stupid. There are much better providers out there, STAY AWAY!

      That’s absolutely lame to hear a company with huge backing and a long history can’t even provision their customers’ hosting accounts.. How hard is that? I could set up WHMCS and provide a better customer experience than that with my own tiny hosting company.
