This tutorial will show you how to create a dark-themed navigation box with a blue header. Once we’re done we’ll have something that looks like this.
Create a new document with the size of 500×500 px. Fill the background with black and with the Rounded Rectangle Tool, make a rectangle with the color fill of grey.
Add Stroke in the Blending Options and set the Size to 1px and Position to Outside. Make sure Blend Mode is set to default Normal and change the color to something lighter than the fill of the rectangle.
Create a new layer and with the Rectangular Marquee Tool, make a rectangle inside the rounded rectangle positioned at the top, exceed the edges a little bit outside the rounded rectangle. Make sure to fill it with white.
Open up the Blending Options and add Drop Shadow. Set the Blend Mode to Multiply with the default color black. Set the Opacity at the middle. Angle to -62 and Distance to 5 px. Set the Size to 9px.
Now check Gradient Overlay and click on the gradient bar to open up the gradient editor. Set the left color swatch to #063d6c and the right to #178ac6.
Create a new layer and with the Polygonal Lasso Tool, make a small triangle for the folds.
Open up the Blending Options and check Gradient Overlay. Open up the gradient editor and set the left color swatch to #063965 and the right one to #178ac6.
Duplicate this and rotate it and move it onto the alternate position.
Add some text for the name of your navigation bar.
Next add some texts for the name of your page link/pages and separate them with the Line Tool. And with that we’re done!
